We are currently accepting new patients, and now is a great time to apply! We do tend to have more applicants than we have space available, so not everyone will find an opening, but the chances are good enough to make it worth applying—see details below.

How long is the expected wait?
We continually accept new patients, but with more applicants than space available, we use a lottery system. The pace of openings varies depending on many factors. Sometimes we can accept patients right away, other times it can be a few months or more—this helps us make sure things don’t get too busy to provide great care. We try to prioritize newborns—if you’re expecting, feel free to contact us if you have not heard back by 3 months. But it’s always good to have a backup option as we don’t have enough room for everyone.
Do we keep a waitlist?
We no longer use a first-come-first-served style waitlist because the wait became too long to make sense for pediatrics. So we changed to a short term lottery which gets people in faster. As openings occur, which are fairly regular, we’ll reach out to a few families among those who have applied in the past few months. The hard part is that others will need to stick with one of the other great pediatric clinics in Portland. This is difficult for us, too, so please be understanding. But this approach has shortened the average wait time from several years to only weeks to months.
How long should you wait?
There’s no hard cutoff because the rate of openings and applicants varies month to month. If you haven’t heard back within about 6-9 months then the chances are fairly low. But we will hold on to your information on a reserve list in case we find ourselves with extra openings and do occasionally reach out past this time frame. We do not accept resubmissions, this would defeat the purpose of the short term system and delay children from securing a long term provider for too long.
What do we do with your application information?
Your contact information is secure and only used to contact you about your request, we do not use or share it for marketing purposes. The application also tells us if we're in network with your insurance and it helps us get to know you. This won't have much affect on your chances unless we’re not in network with your panel or you’re looking for different services than we provide. We value diversity and do not discriminate based on age, sexual orientation, gender, race, income, religion, etc. We welcome families of all backgrounds.
Are children accepted one by one, or the whole family at once?
Always the whole family, including all future children you may have - we practice family-centered pediatric care.
What’s the next step?
Before joining the practice you’ll get a free "meet and greet" appointment with the doctor. This gives you a chance to meet face to face, get to know each other, learn the ins and outs of the practice, and make sure our treatment style is aligned with the care you are seeking for your child. We want our patients to love it here! If everything sounds good then your care can begin right away.
Are there long waits for things once patients are in the practice?
Quite the opposite! The whole purpose of this system is to make sure that our care is accessible and our schedule is not overbooked. You'll find much easier accessibility here than is standard for pediatric clinics.
